COVID-19: Hon. Kalu trains healthcare personnel, distributes safety kits to constituents
Concerned by the increasing number of COVID-19 casualties in Nigeria, member representing Bende Federal Constituency, of Abia State, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu said on Saturday that COVID-19 Emergency Health Corps will be trained to respond to cases within his Constituency.
In a statement he issued and made available to journalists in Abuja, the lawmaker stressed that the training will be in accordance with the World Health Organisation standards.
He said the trained personnel would be deployed across the 13 health care centres across his Constituency.
The lawmaker who is the spokesman of the lower chamber revealed that personal hygiene and relief materials have been deployed through the task force by his Constituency office, noting that the constituents should strictly adhere to instructions.
“I am in partnership with the emergency response team of the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia and the Chief Medical Director of FMC, Dr. Onyebuchi to train select Bende Health-care personnel on World Health Organisation approved guidelines for preventing the spread of Coronavirus.
“I have deployed thousands of relief supplies and hygiene materials through Task Force for distribution around all communities in my Constituency.
He encouraged his constituents not to despair, saying that government was doing all it could to bring the situation under control.
He called on the people to desist from politicking or politicise the development, stressing that the opportunity should be seized to reflect on what was good for humanity wherever they may live.
