Breaking: Boko Haram relocating to Nasarawa forests, Sule laments
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa on Friday said Boko Haram terrorists were relocating to Nasarawa forests.
He spoke with the State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in his office at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Governor has raised the alarm over activities of the terror group, Boko Haram, in his state, saying members of the terror group, who were dislodged from a location along the Abuja/Nasarawa borders last year, had regrouped along the Nasarawa/Benue borders, wrecking new forms of havoc.
He revealed discussing the insecurity in Nasarawa State with President Buhari and the need for the Federal Government of Nigeria to take over the construction of Jitata road as an alternative route from Nasarawa to the Federal Capital Territory.
On whether some of the suspected Boko Haram insurgents in the North East of Borno State are regrouping, Sule said those waging war in Nasarawa currently are their variants of Darussalam group that had been dislodged from Niger, saying that upon a joint security operation, a lot of them were killed while 900 were arrested.
“Those who were arrested confirmed their membership of the Boko Haram insurgency group”, he.said.
The governor expressed optimism that President Buhari would wade into security challenges bedevilling Nasarawa State.
