Lawan, Wamakko, others, donate N19.8m at Book Launch
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence and Deputy Chairman,Senate Committee on Anti Corruption, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda, on Saturday, in Sokoto, announced a donation of N 19.8million , at the launching of three books written by a renowned Islamic Cleric, Dr Jabir Sani Mai-hula.
Wamakko announced the N 3milion donation of the Senate President , Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, N 1million from Senate Leader, Dr Abdullahi Yahayya, N1million from the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, his personal donation of N 3million and N 2million from Senator Ibrahim Gobir.
Others were : N 3million from Senator Danjuma Goje, N 2million from Senator Adamu Aliero, N 1million from Seantor Abdullahi Adamu, N 1million from Senator Lawalli Hassan Anka and N 2milloon from Senator Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba.
The rest of the donations included that of N 1miloion from Senator Ibn Na Allah, N 100,000 l, from Hon. Ahmad Abdullahi Kalambaina, N 100,000, from Ambassador Sahabi Isa Gada, N 100,000, from Alhaji Harande Mahe, Special Adviser to Dingyadi, N 100,000, from Sheikh Bashir Gidan Kanawa and N200,000, from Alhaji Nasiru Shehu Bodinga, Chairman, Police Public Relations Committee ( PCRC), Sokoto State Command.
In all, a total of over N 92million was nettted at the books’ launch, both in cash and pledges.
Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko stressed the importance of education and pledged to continue to support Islamic propagation, as well as the studies, recitation and memorization of the Glorious Qur’an.
Speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’a Wa Iqamatus Sunnah, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, commended the Author ,just as described Islam as the religion of peace and not that of fundamentalism.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, who concurred with Lau, also promised to continue to sustain the ongoing publications of the books written by the Founders of the Sokoto Caliphate.
The Sultan was elated that, the Muslim Ummah was united, disclosing that, the Sultanate Council of Sokoto was partnering the Sokoto State University, with a view to commencing Caliphate Studies .
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal stated that, the books will help in enlightening the people, globally-acclaimed, that Islam is a religion of peace, and not violence or fundamentalism.
He promised that, the Sokoto State Government will partner the various Islamic Clerics, with a view to changing the obnoxious negative narratives against Islam and Muslims.
The Author, Dr Jabir Sani Mai-hula, Head of Department, Islamic Studies, Sokoto State University, as well as Chief Imam, Sultan Sa’ad Juma’at Mosque, Gwiwa Low cost, Sokoto, said that, his gesture was to contribute to the growth and development of Islam.
The three books launched were: Ibn Taimiyya In the Literature of Contemporary Jihadists, Tabdili Sunnatu, Mursalu Ilal Jannat and another one on it’s Hausa Translation.
