Olamaboro LG boss eulogises fallen heroes, to partner ex-servicemen on security, others.

As men of Nigerian legion marks this year Armed Forces remembrance day, the chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Area, Hon. Adejo Friday Nicodemus has described the gallantry of the nation army, especially the fallen heroes as the cord of unity that bid the country today.

Hon.Nicodemus who was represented by his Deputy, Hon. Blessing Aisha Ekele at the occasion which took place at the Local government headquarters in Okpo on Friday said the fallen heroes, in the World Wars, Nigerian civil war and other related crises in the country paid the Supreme sacrifice for the rest of us to be alive and for the world to be at peace.

Change of Name

The council chairman stressed without reservation, that the courage and gallantry displayed by the Nigerian Armed Forces of this country in the period of crisis had reinforced protection for the country’s territorial sovereignty and the present democratic experiment which has come to stay, devoid of military intervention.

“In view of the importance ex service men, in the making of old and modern Nigeria, the Olamabaro Local government has resolved to partners with the men of legion in the area of security and related issues.

“In an era where kidnapping, Armed robbery, Fulani herdsmen and farmers clash and related vices have become part of us, the council needs your wealth of experience to checkmate these crimes in our domains for peaceful living”, council chairman expressed, as he addressed the ex-servicemen.

While the council chairman commended the men of Nigerian legion for their cooperation so far, he promised to strive and improve their walfares, in their own way, as a mark of respect for their contributions to this great nation.

In their remarks, the ex-servicemen accepted to partners with the local government on security as requested, saying that the council present leadership have milk of human kindness by their doings, since resumption in office .

According to Chief Titus Ocheme, the Amana Abo of Imane, a retired military man who spoke on behalf of the legion, said since the inception of the local government administration in Olamaboro, no leadership has shown concerned over their plight ,as this, saying that the legion are ready to assist the council as they deemed fit.

However, the occasion that drew thousands to the local government headquarters’ ceremonial ground at Okpo was an epoch making, as for the first time a woman inspected the guard of parade/honour to the admiration of all. A situation that drew applause for governor Yahaya Bello’s initiative which allowed women folks to serve as vice chairman in all the 21Local government areas of the state .

Hon. Blessing Aisha Ekele who made this history by holding forth for her chairman that was on an important, but pressing assignment outside the headquarters of the council thanked governor Yahaya Bello, his Deputy ,Chief Edward Onoja and her Boss, Hon. Adejo Friday Nicodemus for the trust reposed on her to play that role.
