Kaduna Central people protests against Uba Sani, says Senator hasn’t been seen since elected
Barely a week into the new year, things have gone awry for Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Uba Sani, as constituents alledged that since he was elected, he has become inaccessible and hasn’t been seen again.
While scores protested against him on Friday, they demanded that he should be recalled, lamenting that since he became Senator, he has not executed any meaningful constituency project like some of his colleagues.
Their grouse which triggered Friday’s protest, CAPITAL POST learnt further was that the lawmaker never stand on floor of Senate chamber to talk about the insecurity in Kaduna even as banditry, kidnapping, killings are happening regularly.
According to the protesters, all his offices across the Local governments he represents remain closed since after election.
They explained that constituents are not allowed to visit his office at the National Assembly for him to give attention, adding that Kaduna State government has demolished markets and business places without compensating those who own shops legally.
Some carry placards, bearing different inscriptions, saying, ‘No more Uba Sani,’ ‘We don’t want Uba Sani’ and ‘Uba Sani has failed us,’ ‘#Secure North,’ #End kidnapping,’ ‘No more Uba Sani,’ and ‘ Ka dawo’, also chanted war songs, saying in Hausa, ‘Ba mu so Uba Sani!’
Some protesters lamented the non unavailability of the lawmaker each time there were cases of kidnapping and abductions.
The protests took place at in the Rigasa Area of Kaduna and what seemed to a planned events, protesters filed out as early as 7:30am.
A demonstrator who identified himself as Isah Habu, a student of Kaduna State University explained that Senator Uba Sani has failed, noting that after his election, he was no where to be seen again.
A female protester, a resident of Barnawa who spoke under anonymity accused Uba Sani of not being accessible to his constituents, refusing to assist victims of kidnapping and insecurity now pervading the constituency.
They alledged that Uba Sani who is.the Chairman of Senate Committee on Banks and Financial Institutions had been docile, and, “he hasn’t executed any meaningful constituency projects from the 2020 budget.”
“Senator Sani’s attitude has continued to deny us the dividends of democracy that should have accrued to us since his election in 2019.”
He wasn’t picking his calls which was meant to make further clarifications from him.
