Niger CP, Usman decorates newly promoted officers, charges them to be professional
A total of 2,219 men and officers of the Niger State Police command have been promoted within the last one year, the Commissioner of Police in Niger State, Mr Adams Usman has disclosed.
He said the promoted officers comprises of 1 CSP to ACP, 21 SP to CSP, five DSP to SP, four ADO to DSPs, 282 Inspectors to ASPs and 1,120 Sergeants to Inspectors, and 521 Corporals to Sergeants, while 264 Constables were promoted to Corporals.
Speaking at a decoration of 10 newly promoted officers of the Command at the Police Officers mess in Minna Thursday, the Commissioner stated that those promoted officers were as a result of their meritorious service to the command.
He explained that beyond the change in professional status, the promotion represents a due recognition of the history of professional excellence of all the ten officers, “being celebrated today.”
“Their promotion like other previous exercise was guided by the principles of seniority and merit as well as a reflective of their record of discipline and invaluable experience.”
According to the Commissioner, he hold the firm conviction that the newly promoted officers and those previously promoted officers in the last one year, fit perfectly in to human capacity development of the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that he was confident that they will deploy their wealth of experience towards supporting the Nigeria police in achieving our mandate, especially at this crucial time of internal security challenges.
“Let me remind the promoters that to whom much is given, much shall be expected. Crime as you know is dynamic and increasingly complex phenomenon and the command demands your high level of loyalty, courage and professional competence tomove the Nigeria police and indeed the nation forward.” he said.
He charged them to be diligent in the discharge of their duties, which according to him can sometimes be challenging, “where your strength of character and professionalism shall be optimally tested, you should deploy your intellect, be civil to the citizens and be guided by the rule of law.
“In addition, you must demonstrate sound professional judgement in all your decisions, knowing that you could be called to account for your actions or inactions”
Similarly, the Command rewarded 29 deserving officers and men who have performed exceptionally well by presenting them with awards to serve as a morale booster and encourage other officers to emulate them.
Speaking on behalf of the promoted officer, ACP Yahaya Isa who was promoted from CSP to his new rank commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu and the Police Service Commission for making the promotion to be actualized, assuring that their promotion would serve as a morale booster to put more efforts in the discharge of their duty.
He appealed to those that are yet to be promoted not to lose hope, assuring them that theirs will soon be on the way.
