Coronavirus: Residents exposes foreign returnee in Benue
Residents in the Welfare quarters, a suburb of Makurdi have exposed a foreign returnee for not subjecting himself to coronavirus test.
The residents have been living in panic since the man came back from abroad, a situation they reported him to Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus headed by the Deputy governor of Benue State, Mr. Benson Abounu.
CAPITAL POST reports that samples of the man’s blood and members of his family have also been taken to Abuja for testing.
The man was said to have been on self isolation since he returned from abroad and was neither showing any sign of illness nor any member of his household as at the time the Committee visited him.
The State Commissioner for Information and a member of the Committee, Ngunan Addingi, in Makurdi confirmed that the foreign returnee has been on self isolation in line with requirements by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for all returnees from abroad.
According to her, “his blood sample has been taken and sent to Abuja for more investigation”, she said.
Addingi said the man assured the committee of further cooperation, saying that he knows what is happening across the world.
