2023: Abaribe can’t distract me with his governorship ambition – Ikpeazu

The governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu on Monday said, he has his mandate running and he was committed to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the State.

He said, the Senate Minority leader in the 9th National Assembly, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe can’t distract him from delivering dividends of democracy.

The governor was reacting to the declaration of interest by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe to contest governorship in 2023 when he paid a visit on the eve of Christmas.

Senator Abaribe and the incumbent governor, Ikpeazu who is now serving out his second term of office by 2023 comes from the same Local Government Council in Abia State.

During the Christmas eve’s visit to the governor, Senator Abaribe had formally told him of his intention to contest the Abia State 2023 governorship seat, thereby putting to rest Abaribe’s rumoured intention.

Ikpeazu’s official statement on Monday, was his reaction to Senator Abaribe’s declaration.

Senator Abaribe and governor Ikpeazu are both members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State.
